Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Otoplasty is a surgical procedure to change the angle and shape of protruding or uneven ears in children and adults. Otoplasty is also called pinnaplasty, or “pinning back the ears”, or correction of the ears.
The surgeon reshapes part of the cartilage in the ears, allowing them to lie closer to the side of the head, and reproducing natural folds that may be absent in the normal ear.
In some situations, if the size and shape of the ears do not match, the surgeon may work on only one ear to make it more similar in shape and appearance to the other ear. There are a number of options available.
